Northern California Attractions You Need To See

Every year more people are moving to the beautiful state of California. Besides the lure of the ocean and the tropical feeling, there are many things that attract people to California. Obviously, the warm weather is inviting. There are also many tourist attractions in Northern California that are well worth checking out!

California is arguably one of the most beautiful of the 50 United States of America! Northern California is no exception. It is also called ?Nor Cal? (and Southern California is likewise dubbed ?So Cal?). San Francisco Bay and Sacramento (California?s capital) are both located in Northern California.

Northern California?s climate is quite diverse. There are beautiful sunny beaches on the coast (with climates ranging from marine to Mediterranean) and then there are very cold areas (alpine climate) in the higher altitude mountainous areas.

There are many attractions in Northern California which beckon visitors. For example, the St. George Lighthouse and Battery Point Lighthouse are both beautiful, which are located in Del Norte County.

Also in the same area are the Trees of Mystery which feature huge statues of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe. This attraction features a caf?, gift shop, museum, and Gondola rides. This is most definitely fun for the whole family.

Perhaps one of the most monumental aspects of Nor Cal is the Golden Gate Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a beautiful shade of red and looks gorgeous, glowing against the lush California sky.

If you like wildlife, you are in for a serious treat! The Castle Rock National Wildlife Refuge is gorgeous. It has ocean birds, sea lions, seals and lush plant life. This destination is actually on a little island just outside Crescent City.

For the historian in you, check out the Victorian Ferndale in Humboldt County which is a museum featuring Victorian architecture. Here you can also find antiques and pieces of fine art.

One of the best aspects of Northern California is that, aside from San Francisco Bay and Sacramento, the population is light. Therefore, it is a stark contrast to Southern California (So Cal), where there is so much going on that it can be overwhelming! If you?re looking to get a taste of the beauty and warmth of the Sunshine State without all the chaos, Northern California will suit you perfectly. It?s just quiet enough, but with plenty to do and see!

Don?t miss Redwood National Park! National Parks are a great way to see wildlife, hiking trails, beaches, and more. One thing really cool about Redwood National Park is that the movie Jurassic Park: The Lost World was filmed there!

While you?re in the nature state of mind, check out the Arcata Marsh and Bird Sanctuary, the Natural Dunes Preserve. Northern California also has many rivers and beaches perfect to go fish, rafting, or boating. Deep-sea fishing is also great in the area of Eureka.

Clearly, Northern California is a somewhat untapped resource in the Sunshine State we all know and love. Go and tap in, and find out why California is one of everyone?s favorite United States!
